The Project

In collaboration with towns of : Fort Deposit,AL, Mayor Jacqulyn Boone;  Clayton, AL,  Mayor Kathy Thomas; Linden, AL Mayor Gwendolyn Rogers; York,AL, Mayor Willie Lake; and Hobson City, AL, Mayor Alberta McCrory

Mission

The primary goal of this project is to improve health literacy, to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates and adherence to the public health recommendations. The secondary goals are to address prevention and/or management of stress and chronic diseases and to improve self-advocacy (the ability to get health needs met and participate in health decision making).

Strategies

Our strategy is to infuse accurate information into the communities. We will address organizational health literacy with local health providers while promoting self- advocacy among residents through community engagement and outreach.

Community Outreach

Meetings will be held in each community designed to provide opportunities for residents to get vaccinated.  We will establish linkages with the local school systems, businesses and align with the county health departments to minimize vaccine hesitancy and promote healthy lifestyles.
